Hi folks. Please excuse this extra missive, but I felt it was important. Social media, by its very nature, is ephemeral. It passes by like leaves in a wind and most people see only a fraction of the content posted by people they actively follow. The chance of being exposed to new followers is even slimmer than your existing followers actually seeing something you post for them. Social media has always been this way to some degree, but the rate of degradation is increasing exponentially. Who knew putting our primary means of communication in the hands of capitalist babymen would be a bad idea?
Twitter... I tried to find any of my tweets with Substack in it, none show up, it’s like they don’t exist. It has always been an uphill battle, now more so than ever. Good luck Alan!
In short: same, mate. I love newsletter because they aren’t brain destroying micro-thoughts. I saw the exodus from Twitter more as a good chance to rescue my brain alongside voting with my ass, but I sure do miss the best aspects of that place.
I've followed you on twitter for quite a while and agree wholeheartedly. The current era of social media platforms seem to all be disintegrating as they remove functionality in favour of return on investment. Twitter is now less than useless, and as an aspiring debut author myself it's pretty disheartening to see the main platform for building a network being co-opted as some billionaire's toy. It leaves you wondering what you're supposed to do to get yourself out there.
I hope you manage to keep your audience from twitter as much as possible, seeing how damn hard you work is inspiring!

Hope to see you at a show this year, mate.
